Starting Up
The need for a Rural Transport service was initially recognised by OAK Partnership. Through a consultation and planning process involving local community, statutory and business interests, OAK facilitated funding applications to allow the establishment of an independent company. Both North West Kildare Co. Ltd and the North Offaly Development Group were to the forefront in this development process. Funding was secured through the Rural Transport Initiative of the Department of Transport and the FÁS Social Economy Programme, allowing the first services to be introduced in summer 2002.
