Contingency Plan For Adverse Weather Conditions

The Board of Directors, Management and the Health & Safety Task Group have adopted the following as their template to ensure the maximum level of services possible during periods of adverse weather.
Management or Safety Officer will discuss conditions with all drivers at 0700 each morning with consideration been given to localised conditions
OK Transport owned vehicles will be fitted with snow tyres
All vehicles will carry a sufficient supply of clearing devices such as shovels and salt so as to provide a clearing mechanism around peoples homes who may not be able to do so for themselves.
Assistance will be given to passengers to ensure that all exit routes from around their homes will be cleared of snow and ice.
Passenger Assistants will be available for the period of 39 hours rather than the usual 19.5.Requests from drivers for passenger assistants will be considered and where possible such requests will be resourced sufficiently.
The clearing of pathways and entrance and exit routes arounf day care centres will be provided on request where possible.
Where possible services will operate

September 2011 seen OK Transport embark on a new needs identified service for the village of Derrinturn. A daily return service is now provided departing Derrinturn at 0800 and returning from Edenderry at 1600 hrs .

Tuesday the 13th of April 2010 seen the commencement of a new 2 day a week service to Tullamore. The service operates on Tuesdays and Fridays, leaving Ballinagar at 0930 and returning from Tullamore at 1230.This service operates on a door to door basis and as an introductory offer all passengers will be carried free of charge for the initial month. A €4 return fare will then be implemented with holders of Free Travel Passes entitled to free carriage at all times. For further information or to book a seat please contact our office at 045 528124. National Rural Transport Awareness Day.

Management and Board members would like to invite all members of our community to come and experience a Rural Transport service on Friday the 11th of September 2009.This day has been organised in conjunction with the National Rural Transport Network, and along with members of the public all elected T.D.'s have been invited to a travel on a service on this day. Bord Snip Nua Report

Following on from the recent publication of the above report, Mr.Colm McCarthy has made the recommendation that the government should no longer fund the Rural Transport Programme.
Both Management & Board Members would now like to urge all users of OK Transport to contact their local elected representative to lobby against such a decision as strongly as they possibly can.
Management will shortly be in touch with all current passengers to discuss this situation further.

Robertstown to Allenwood Mass Service

Following consideration by Management & the Board of Directors of Offaly & Kildare Community Transport Ltd., the decision has been made to cease the provision of this service. This service will operate for the last time on Sunday the 02nd of August 2009.
Following on from a recent promotional period it is with regret that the numbers have not risen so as to allow us to sustain this service. Should you have any queries around this decision please do not hesitate to contact the manager.

New Service For NUI Maynooth.

OK Transport Ltd are pleased to announce their intention to provide a new daily service to NUI Maynooth from September 2009.This service will provide transport for students from Clonbollogue, Bracknagh, Rathangan, Lullymore and surrounding area's.We forecast a weekly cost of €32.00 for a weekly return ticket and €8 daily return. This service will operate on a door to door basis where possible. OK Transport currently operates two daily services to and from NUI Maynooth. Oireachtas Joint Committee on Transport.

Directors and Management travelled to Dail Eireann on the 27th of February 2008 at the request of local Deputy Aine Brady to make a presentation to the above committee on the current situation and future plans to provide feeder buses to Kildare train stations from rural areas. The representatives on the day were :

Mr. Alan Kerry ( Manager ).
The presentation was well received by the committee members, and a valuable communication source has now been established between both groups.



New Vehicles


It is with great pleasure that we can announce the arrival of a brand new edition to our fleet. We took delivery on March 04th of a fully wheelchair accessible 16 seat Mercedes Sprinter. This vehicle has replaced our 2003 community bus, it has been fitted out to the highest specifications and is fully equipped with easy access steps, grab rails, leather seats, securing devices and defibrillator.The vehicle was manufactured in Kilbeggan Co. Westmeath by KVC Ltd.

OK Transport are pleased to announce the arrival of our new 7 seat wheel chair accessible Fiat Scudo. This vehicle will allow us to progress with our plans for transport solutions for people with disabilities within our area. Along with our new Mercedes Sprinter, this vehicle has been fitted out to the highest standards of safety and comfort. The purchase of this vehicle has been part funded by the Dormant Funds Account. This vehicle was also built and supplied by KVC Ltd who are based in Kilbeggan Co.Westmeath.



Strategic Plan 2008 -2010.


The Strategic Plan which was compiled during the period October 07 to January 08 was submitted to POBAL for approval in February. Consultations took place with the following Groups :
Youth.
Older Peoples Groups.
Commuters.
People With Disabilities.
Non Users.
Current Users.
HSE.
Bus Eireann.
Private Operators.
Staff.
Board Of Directors.

We would like to sincerely thank the above people who facilitated our requests and gave of their time freely.


Our Staff

OK Transport currently employs 9 members of staff. These people are Alan Kerry, Brigid Moran , Anne Duffy ,Paul Cummins, Eileen Meleady, Grace Fee, Mary Melia , Lilly Kane and Peter Feeney. Many thanks to one and all.
